On January 24, 2018 NICOA’s Elder Equity Program Coordinator Rebecca Owl Morgan attended Senior Day at the Roundhouse in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The New Mexico Legislature meets every year in January, and it has become a tradition for NICOA to participate in the Senior Day at the Roundhouse event.
During Senior Day legislators hold an open house where they invite elders and those who work with elders to visit them for a one-day event. This community event is a great place to learn about New Mexico resources available for elders. It is also a chance for elders to educate policy makers about the impact they are having on them with their decisions.
Morgan attended the event to share information about NICOA programs and services with attendees and legislators, including information on the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), NICOA’s upcoming biennial conference, and the Your Money, Your Goals financial capability program.
