The National Indian Council on Aging’s (NICOA) Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) has been a tremendous asset to the town of Florence, Arizona, and the Dorothy Nolan Senior Center. This program has been an incredible help to our current participant Jim Dunphy.
Jim is a kind-hearted individual with many fascinating experiences to share with others at the center. In addition to those qualities, he has attained worth and a boost in confidence thanks to SCSEP. Prior to participating in this program, Jim spent his time in unproductive and aimless pursuits. Now, the program gives him purpose, guidance and value.
Jim spends some of his earnings assisting the less fortunate in our community. He shares money, food and time with the homeless in our community. His unselfishness has benefitted others who are less fortunate.
I am proud to say that through NICOA’s SCSEP and Jim’s own determination, not only has he helped himself, but our senior center and the community as well. He is the perfect example of how returning value into someone’s life can benefit others.
