More than 70 million Americans are grandparents. Grandparents Day is celebrated in the United States annually in September on the first Sunday after Labor Day and is rooted in the innovative work of two committed and passionate pioneers: Jacob Reingold and Marian McQuade.
Since 2011, Generations United has led a national campaign inspiring people to Do Something Grand for Grandparents Day. Generations United is urging grandparents and older adults to share their wisdom, perspectives and key civic values with young people on Grandparents Day – Sept. 11th and the week leading up to it.
